AR Works Studio
AR Works Studio is the full AR Works editor as an offline desktop app for Windows. Your projects are saved on your computer - no account or internet connection needed.
What Studio is
Studio is the same editor you use on ar.works, packaged as a Windows desktop app that works entirely offline. Instead of living in your online account, each project is saved locally on your computer, and moves in and out of Studio as a single .works file - the same format as the website's Export & backup files, so you can move projects freely between Studio and your online account.
Downloading Studio
- Download the installer - the recommended version for most people.
- Portable version - a single file that runs without installing, but does not include 3D scanning.
Note
Licence & activation
A Studio licence is included with the Pro and Education plans. Your licence key is on your Account page - new subscribers also receive it by email.
- Open Studio and click Activate.
- Paste your licence key. Activation works offline - no connection needed.
Without a licence, Studio is still fully usable - everything works except exporting .works files. Pro licences re-check online when Studio starts and an internet connection is available; Education licences never re-check once activated.
3D scanning on your computer
In Studio, 3D scanning runs entirely locally: pick 20-100 photos of a real object, taken in a slow circle around it, and Studio reconstructs a textured 3D model on your own computer - no phone needed. Reconstruction can take several minutes and uses the CPU heavily while it runs. Scanning is included in the installed version of Studio only - the portable version doesn't ship the scanning tools.
System requirements
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- 3D scanning needs a modern CPU (with AVX2) and around 10 GB of free disk space while a reconstruction runs.
