The editor tour

The editor is where you build everything. Here is what each part does.

The main regions of the editor.

The layout

  • Left column - three stacked panels: Scene Hierarchy (the objects in the current scene), Scenes (your scenes and their target image), and Assets (everything you have imported). Each section collapses with its chevron, and the whole column collapses with the edge arrow.
  • Viewport (centre) - the 3D view of your scene, with the transform tools and toggles.
  • Bottom panel - three tabs: Nodes, Materials and Animation. Drag its top edge to resize, or collapse it.
  • Inspector (right) - the exact properties of whatever object you have selected.
  • Top bar - the project name and save status, plus the Add, Preview and Share buttons, a light/dark theme toggle, and a link back to your dashboard.

Moving around the 3D view

  • Orbit - drag with the left mouse button on empty space.
  • Pan - drag with the right mouse button (or hold Shift).
  • Zoom - scroll the mouse wheel.
  • View cube (top-right corner) - click a face or corner to snap to that view, or drag the cube to orbit. It matches your theme (light or dark).
  • Reset view returns the camera to its default angle; Frame zooms to fit all your objects.

Saving your work

AR Works saves automatically a moment after every change. The top bar shows Saved or Unsaved so you always know where you stand - there is no Save button to remember.

Handy shortcuts

Ctrl+Z undoes, Ctrl+Y (or Ctrl+Shift+Z) redoes, and Delete removes the selected object. Almost everything also has a right-click menu.

Preview without a phone

Click Preview in the top bar to play your experience right in the browser - tap objects to trigger their logic, drag to look around. It is a fast way to check your animations and interactions before you publish. (Preview is not AR; it does not use your camera.)
