Schools, teachers & students
AR Works is built for the classroom - it's ideal for units like Cambridge National IT R070, where students build AR prototypes from a client brief. Here's how school accounts fit together.
The roles
- Organisation - your school. It has a number of seats (student places) it can use.
- Teacher - creates and manages student accounts, groups and invite links, buys extra seats and project space, and can open and edit any of their students' projects. Teachers also build their own projects.
- Student - signs in and builds AR projects, just like any creator. Students have no billing - their plan, seats and project space are all handled by their teacher.
Getting your school set up
The Education plan is invitation-only. To get started:
- Get in touch - use the For schools form to tell us about your school and ask about the Education discount.
- We set your school up with an organisation, a teacher account and a batch of seats (or send you a private invitation link to activate Education yourself).
Note
For teachers: managing students
Sign in and open the Students area. From there you can:
- Add a student - click Add Student, enter their name, email and a password to hand out, and optionally pick a group. Each student uses one seat.
- Organise students into groups (classes) and share invite links so students can sign themselves up.
- See each student's account and projects - expand a student to view their projects, and open any project in the editor to help them (your changes save manually with the Save button).
- Manage a student - rename them, move them between groups, reset their password, or remove the account (which frees a seat).
- Bulk actions - tick several students (or Select all) to move them into a group or remove them in one go.
- Buy more seats and project space on the Extras page when you need them.
Note
Tip
Downgrading or closing a school
If a teacher downgrades away from Education (or an Education subscription ends), the school's students are unlinked. They keep their accounts, projects and groups, and are re-linked automatically if a teacher is restored to the school. Unlinked students that are never re-linked can be permanently removed by an administrator from the Admin Maintenance page.
For administrators
Platform administrators have an Admin panel to manage everything:
- Users - one account type dropdown per user (No Plan, Free, Pro, Teacher, Student, Admin) sets their role and plan together. Choosing Teacher gives them an organisation with seats if they don't already have one.
- Plans & limits - set each plan's limits (including the students' project cap) and the extra-project and extra-seat prices, plus the Education invite link.
- Maintenance - permanently delete student accounts that have been left unlinked by a school downgrade.
- Schools & teachers and the Messages console for enquiries and support.
If you run a school, your day-to-day work is in the Students area, not the admin panel.
