Quick start

Follow these steps to go from a brand-new account to a working AR experience you can open on your phone.

1. Create your account

  1. Go to Register and sign up with your email and a password (at least 8 characters). Tick the box to accept the terms.
  2. You are taken straight to your dashboard, where all your projects live.

Note

If your school gave you an account, just sign in instead - your teacher has already set it up.

2. Create a project

  1. On the dashboard, click New project.
  2. Give it a name and click Create & open. The editor opens.
Your dashboard - every project is a card with a snapshot thumbnail.

3. Add a target image

A target image is the picture your audience points their phone at to make your content appear. It is the anchor for your whole experience.

  1. In the Assets panel (bottom-left), click Import and choose a photo or graphic - ideally something detailed and matte (see Choosing a target image).
  2. In the Scenes panel, open the Target image dropdown and pick the image you just imported.

4. Add something to show

  1. Click Add in the top bar and choose a 3D shape (try a Cube) - or import a 3D model or image and add that instead.
  2. Use the move, rotate and scale tools (top-left of the viewport) to position it over the target.

Tip

Turn on the Target toggle in the viewport to see a faded copy of your target image, so you know exactly where your content will land in the real world.

5. Publish and view it in AR

  1. Click Share (top-right), then Publish & create link. AR Works prepares your target - this takes a few seconds.
  2. Scan the QR code with your phone (or open the link), tap Start AR, allow camera access, and point the camera at your printed or on-screen target image.
  3. Your content appears, anchored to the image. 🎉

That's the whole loop

From here you can add animation, taps and interactions, more scenes, and polished materials. Read on to learn each part in detail.
